In my Feels blog post, I told that Papa, Sissy, and I sent Mama to her office on one Monday morning this month. It was not a simple drop-off since she is working outside the city. It grabbed us a total of five-point-five hours from Manila to San Fernando and San Fernando to Manila. And note here, the family left home even before dawn, but that was really how long the ride took. I got no regrets though! Even when it was just a pure road trip where we just rode the car, wandered the expressway, quick picture shoot, sent Mama off, then long drive again? Gwaenchana. Because like what I said before, I loved it. So much love for that fleeting yet soul-refreshing moment 💖 For this post, and for this time though, it was the other way around. Again, Paps, Ate, and I sat in Nova for two hours, but for the reason of fetching the mother. And the twist here, we decided to stay the night. That is right, the fam was at Pampanga until Saturday, Sat afternoon to be exact. As mentioned, we truly enjoyed the short joyride from before, so my sister proposed a quick food trip and not just a road trip per se. Papa had been wanting to try to overnight there too because driving back and forth in straight hours is getting hard for this old man. Plus, whenever he fetches Ma, they are always on the run because of the curfew hours So, there, there! We slept at the staff house that Friday night, then left the next day, woohoo! 💖 While recalling the moments, I realized that the fambam unofficially started the spontaneous food trip by having the special bibingka as our midnight snack. Yup, we had a night trip since Sissy had a straight shift. Ate dinner before going there too. However, Papa saw this shop along the way and he craved it, so we ordered. Then for our breakfast, we had freshly-baked pandesals, spicy gourmet sardines, and scrambled eggs. Simple meals, but aAahHhhhhhhh, so good! The green view added to the great taste, I guess. It tasted different. Better kind of different though. Chef's kiss approved! But aside from these munches, the four of us (plus my baby RJ) actually visited three food places before leaving San Fernando 💖 |
The side trip from our spontaneous food trip? The San Fernando Station, also called Himpilang Daang Bakal ng San Fernando! Mama wanted to go here ever since she watched Anne Curtis' and Marco Gumabao's Just A Stranger movie, so here we were! Yeah, she cutie loik that. Haha. | This Himpilang Daang Bakal used to be a train station. Duh. But now, it is just a historical landmark in the city. This historical station was the stopping site of Filipino and American prisoners of war during the Bataan Death March. It was also the ending point of the 102-kilometer march in April 1942. |
Like that Monday visit to Pampanga, this Saturday was a spontaneous trip. To be honest, same as the other, I do not have any plans going here. I just packed my things with a mindset that I wanna enjoy the long road and breathe in the fresh air! Just that. And yup, I got it naman, so yahooooo! | Been a while since the family had a little adventure. So of course? I super loved this blessed day! Here, I realized I miss traveling too. I miss unwinding. I miss having no worries. I miss weekends like this. So thanks to this half of a day, it gave a spark of hope in me. Must hold on. Hang in here. Aja! |
