Happy thoughts and feelings have been overflowing, especially this month of December becauuuse, this is the merriest season of all! And one thing that is always present in our family's noche buena; one thing makes my heart very, very merry; and obviously, one thing that strongly dashes me to sugar rush: cakes! I think I already said this before? I reaaally love cakes! Such sweet, delightful goods are my guilty pleasure. And since it is the Yule, a very special occasion, the fam bought a Christmas cake. We have been buying pastries throughout the year; whether there is something to be celebrated or not, eh, what more now that it is the Baby Jesus' birthday? So! For this year, me and my folks had the underrated Purple Oven's Chocolate Campfire. I knew Purple Oven because it was the then supplier of Starbucks' banoffee pies which I really stan! Purple Oven is a lowkey bakery that offers freshly baked goods from pieces of bread, cookies, turnovers, to donuts, bars, pies, and cakes. This quaint pastry shop vends snacks on-the-go and handful pasalubong treats. One of Purple Oven's menu-topper is the Chocolate Campfire. This cake is meant to share stories over its gooey chocolate filling while hiding its cozy, glazed marshmallows underneath. Like a campfire, the sweetness explodes! Indeed, it has a boom factor that other cakes do not possess. And, it exerts maximum sweet- and yumminess! No doubt why this is lined up in the bestsellers. Its taste is the taste of a sweet success -- similar triumph to what we are celebrating this time: the Son of God is born! *alleluia, alleluia* Purple Oven Various locations: https://www.zomato.com/manila/restaurants/purple-oven https://www.facebook.com/Purple-Oven-256081564587199/

Dada's grandmother, Mama Cora, handled a big event last Saturday at EDSA Shangri-La. The reason why after our errands there, we also ended up in Shangri-La Plaza. Since these places are close to my office, these are not new to me anymore. However, that does not mean I expertly know the place. Shang properties are luxurious so my officemates and I just go here if nakaka-el el or nakakaluwag-luwag. Hahahahaha! But despite the deluxe feels this mall denotes, Shang Plaza still auras a friendly neighborhood. And! What I love the most here is the wide array of restaurants to choose from, especially in the Lower Ground and Level 6. My second fam actually had a hard time deciding where to eat then. So after the long deliberation, we mutually chose Tender Bob's. Coincidentally, my Baguio trip was a year ago already. And, dining at Tender Bob's made me miss the City of Pines. Why? Because the ambiance is similar to Camp John Hay's Bell House! Its red coaches, the brick ceilings, the attractive knick knacks -- ahhhhh, so homey, so relaxing, so comfortable! It is no different from the typical American home slash Uncle Bob's residence. This indeed is the perfect resto for grilled lunch and steak dinner, cozy dates with the family. Tender Bob's got a hefty menu and various food choices to love. For sure your tummies would be treated with indulgence from the green salads, well-seasoned pasta, gigantic burgers, and of course, the US-certified steaks! We ordered the meat and seafood platter which I super duper loved. Plus, the birthday cake shake! My favorite: the ribs -- delicate, juicy, and truly tender >> just like its name. I commend the dishes as these gave me an early glimpse of the heavens. aAaHhh, yummerz! The fam had a good time here at Tender Bob's. Grateful that I got dragged here. Thanks, Mama Cora! Hehe. And so I told myself that I should bring my mains here one of these days because I also want them to try the savory food in generous servings at a very reasonable price. I actually got surprised when I read some average reviews when I searched Tender Bob's after le visit. 'Cause ISTG, my readers, Tender Bob's is a two-thumbs up for real! *like emoji* Tender Bob's Ground Floor, Promenade, Greenhills Shopping Centre, Greenhills, San Juan City Level 1, Greenbelt 2, Ayala Center, Greenbelt, Makati City Level 6, Shangri-La Plaza, Ortigas, Mandaluyong City https://www.facebook.com/TenderBobs/ |
