Been playing love songs these days becauuuuuuuse... Dada and I just reached our 7th anniversary!!! Woot woot, woot, woot woot woot, woot woot. =))))) Despite the busy-ness -- my exam unluckily coincided this day of all the days yep, and it was his great grandfather's last day in the Philippines because Papa Lakay had to go back in the United States already -- we were still able to celebrate the night together 💖 Dada and I planned the things we wanna do, with our main activities: (1) attend the mass in Our Lady Mother of Hope Chapel and (2) dinner at Firefly Roofdeck in City Garden Grand Hotel. We were able to tick off our list naman, but... I really do not want to put negative vibes in my blog because I am firm with my EFG's: Ela, Her Favorites, and Her Goals. However... My supposedly dreamy night turned into a nightmare because of Firefly Roofdeck. I am posting this because I am not letting this chance pass us. EXPECTATIONS: I saw the hype of this restaurant on Facebook. There are many nice reviews online as well. And so, that made me giddy and excited. Since the test was over, gotta grab the chance to relax. Exhilarated for this night because I had been reviewing for weeks and this should be my reward. Plus! To have sumptuous meals while looking at a stunning view, celebrating a special night with the person I love? Ahhh, looked forward to this moment, ya know, ofc! REALITY: The sight is amazing. That's all positive I can say. Upon entering, we were asked by our names and contact numbers. The tables with the Makati view were all occupied so we were seated somewhere else. Just two minutes after, a couple left. We asked the waiter if we can transfer there and he said yes. Almost seated -- yung tipong paupo ka na talaga tapos ang sigla ng ngiti mo -- when the receptionist, the same person who got our details told us to move because "the seats were already reserved." Their FB page informed that there are no reservations? What was that? And so I asked the lady how we could sit by that side. She said, she would list our names since there is a line for it. There is a line... Daw. But!!! She did not even offer that when we entered? Huh? Why? And!!! The man undoubtedly allowed us to move there? Did he not get the memo about the so-called line? Made us wonder: Ano kaya yung totoo? Then, we were listed number six... Daw. But after a while, when asked for a follow-up, we were on the 8th... Daw. 6 na kanina, naging 8? Totoo ba? So of course, I called their attention. The woman said, she would come back at us... And again... DAW!!! Ha!!!!! Hahahahahaha!!! This lady made my face red -- not because of blush, but because of anger. That was the time I gave up. Kanila na yung mga seats dun! Kung ipagdadamot, wala na akong pake! Ang akin lang, bakit ganun? Why do you have to treat your guests like that?!?!? We were there from 6:40 PM to 8:30 PM yet, we were not able to sit on the side, the one Firefly Roofdeck has been "so proud about." Hah, patawa! So many people had come and go, mah friends! More than 10 na nga yun but what? No chances were given. And the woman did not even bother to come back to update us. What the heck, huh. Tried to calm myself down because the day was a special one and I did not want it to be a fail. I told myself that the service may be cringy but maybe, the dishes would be good. I repeated that statement all over my head but geez, it did not speak into existence. The food sucked! The price is not reasonable. Very not worth it if equated to the taste of its food offerings. And the worse? They served our pizza with no tray stand. The pizza was bigger than the plate so the crust was kissing the table. We called their attention. Again, of course. What did we get? The staff just said, "Ay Ma'am, wait lang po ah." And once more, never came back at all. We observed the other tables around if they were served that way too but nah, the other guests were served properly. My boyfriend almost asked them if they have a problem with us, imagine that??? Because the food was bad. The service was bad. Sooo bad!!! But I feel more than bad to this guy from earlier. He is the only approachable employee. Siya lang yung gumagalaw all throughout the area while the girls and others were only there, laughing, just talking with each other. What the heck. That is my conclusion for this visit. Never again at Firefly "What The Heck" Roofdeck. Lesson learned: Substance over looks. Always. I did not regret coming here because my passion for discovering new things still ignited. And I bet you guys know that, I am a food and travel blogger eh? Been into restaurants and cafes with bad food and bad service; however, this was the first time I encountered who is bad at both. Eh dito... I felt wonderful after this experience though. Whether you believe me or not. Having been able to be exposed to this restaurant got me to appreciate the other good, better ones. So... Still a victory for me, for us. Looking at the bright side nalang. Nangyari na eh? **Promised myself that I should only feature good reviews and just the favorite-able, passable ones and never the disappointing ones, but, November 11 is one of my most favorite days in the year and I am with my most favorite person in my life so... I just have to let this out. I am okay naman na. I feel good now :)** PS: Still enjoyed the night tho. We stepped to 7/11 -- yup, the convenience store -- and had cup noodles. Spent the night there and it was fun! Happy 7th pa rin 💖

Holding on with the newly made tradition of the family to visit an out-of-the-country-like destination whenever a member is honoring his/her birthday celebration, Mama, who is the birthday girl, then decided to go to the United States via an all-American diner: Denny's! We did not travel somewhere compared to me and my sister's natal day. This is to be fair with Paps since we just dined in a Latino-atmosphered restaurant at that time. So... Mama had been making kulit to me ever since Denny's opened. It was just recently, the weekend after her birthday, when her wish came true. Sorry for being two years late, Ma. Hahahahaha! She really wants here at Denny's because Mom is a morning person, loves coffee, and applauds breakfast food. Denny's is famous in America for being a 24/7 diner that serves affordable and delicious menu, and so it is a treat for Filipinos to have this smacked in the country now too.
As a fan of American diners, this visit giddied me up too! I super love the combination of the old and the new; the casual modern diner feels. There are neon lights, attractive trinkets, city posters. Sitting by the couch and the booths take the experience to a whole new level. Felt that at least for some moments, I am Betty, waiting for Jughead, something like that. For the vibe is just so cool, very laid-back. I now understand why American teens love to hang out in diner! Legitly cool! The bright aura of Denny's got more lighted up -- thanks to its crews. I have to stress this out because the service we got was exceptional. The staff cheerfully welcomed us with a greeting, not the plastic and robotic one, the one you know is real. They kept on checking out if we needed something. They even had the initiative to give service drinks. These peeps are genuinely friendly so I approve. My conclusion: Denny's McKinley is commendable overall! Great job! 💖 Denny's Various locations: https://dennys.ph/location https://www.dennys.ph/ https://www.facebook.com/DennysPhilippines/ |
