I have heard a lot of good reviews about Starr’s Famous Milkshakes from different people, for so many times already. Indeed, existing like its moniker, it is quite famous (and is still continuing to gain the gold!). Saw how cute and Instagrammable its shakes are, so I was that glad when I saw that it has a branch in my favorite tambayan, at UP Town Center. The store is in line with the Isko’s and Iska’s favorite food places, Rodic’s and ChoKiss, so it is easy to locate. And finally, after some years, I tried Starr's already! *woohoo, yaymeeeee* Starr’s Famous Milkshakes is inspired by the popular 80s milkshake place, A&W. This dessert parlor is known for serving thick and unique drinks, with dreamy flavors and generous toppings -- perfect for everyone, whether you are a kid or a kid at heart. Starr’s also offers brunch meals and light snacks like franks and corndogs that can be perfectly paired with its luscious drinks. I asked one of the staff what their bestsellers are and he answered, “Lahat po, ma’am.” And so, Dada and I decided to just taste two of the Bake & Shake menu since it sounds the most exclusive. From its name, these refreshments contain pastries combined with the milkshakes. We had Caramel Cookie Dough and Oreo Cheesecake which are both creamy and mouthwatering. I was not that disappointed and not that extravagantly impressed, but I liked the latter more than the first. Starr's also has Drunken Starr’s which contain milkshakes with a little bit of alcohol. Should not forget to mention the other bestsellers: Starr’s VIP and Famous Shakes, which are must-tries too, of course. Aside from the shakes, it is also the cozy ambiance that people love in Starr’s. Entering the doors, you would see different kinds of chairs and tables, but are curated beautifully together. The walls are painted in pastels but, with the paintings popping against it, the femininity and masculinity of the place gets much more balanced. Starr's is a quaint corner radiating both the old and the new -- from its interiors to the food and its vibes. It is such a good place to chill with friends. Would come back soon to try other shakes for sure! :) Starr’s Famous Milkshakes Second Floor, UP Town Center, Katipunan Avenue, Diliman, Quezon City South StrEat: Gourmand Container Park, Santa Rosa-Tagaytay Road, Tagaytay City The Rock Building, Holy Spirit Drive, Batasan Hills, Quezon City V. It was a Saturday night when Dada and I paid a visit to Mad Mark's Creamery and Good Eats, a premier steakhouse and ice cream parlor that satisfy hungry tummies without worrying to break the bank. This United States Department of Agriculture or USDA-approved restaurant is located in the wide array of food choices on the ground floor of UP Town Center (so accessible by students from the University of the Philippines-Diliman and Ateneo de Manila University). When you see the blue-painted glass to ceiling restaurant with a laidback, homey ambiance that serves big portion of meals, ahhh, that must be Mad Mark’s. Since dinnertime would always be the peak hours for every food place, yep, Mad Mark’s gets jam-packed as well. But you know, mi amore and I were still able to reserve our seats and did not even wait for more than 15 minutes. It may serve fine dining meals but woah, it is a naturally fast-paced resto and I like that this resto is breaking the stereotypes. We were accommodated by a nice attendant. Since we were second on the list, she asked us to sit first while waiting for our turn. And when our seats were almost ready, she asked us about our order. So before going in, the kitchen already took care of our meals. V nice because no time is wasted in here! Hindi iinit ang ulo kakahintay. And the crews are hospitable and proactive. The service here is truly commendable. The first one served was, of course, the appetizer. We wanted All Star Chicken Nuggets but it seemed too much for the diet since we both ordered meat already. So! We had Fat Chips instead. Fat Chips are plain potato wedges, almost similar from what we call as mojos but less salty. It comes with a dip but I do not know what it is called. If you like your Fat Chips with cheese sauce and beef like nachos, Mad Mark's also has that. It is called Overload Frites. All the appetizers are good for sharing by two to three people. As for the main course, it was the Signature Steak, the bestseller which I ordered. Dada and his friends tried this before and they were my living proofs that this luscious meat leaves a good impression, so I said that I must also go for it. Besides, USDA endorsed that the steaks are prized because of the flavor and tenderness so why not, right? With different homemade sauces to choose from, additional two side dishes, and your liberty call on how you would like the steak done, one shall definitely have a good plate here. My steak was well-done to be in the middle and for a safer choice. And well? It did not disappoint! It was so fun slicing the meat because it was not that hard, not that soft and seeing the juice of the meat oozing out was truly heavenly, I cannot express the joy in words! If mine was under its Grill Works, Dada had the Big Plate Feast. He ate The Johnnie Double Black Ribs and of course, I took a bite as well so I can put it here in my review. Haha! To be honest, because the ribs are less pricey than my meal, I never thought it would be that enormous too, and the same tasty as the steaks. The ribs were so soft, way softer than mine. It is like these were cooked tenderly and the flavor was well-tempered. The dish also comes with two sides of your choice so imagine how sulit it would be? Great, right! Days after going here at Mad Mark’s in UPTC, it opened a new branch in Bonifacio Global City, just a few minutes away from home! With that, I think I would be able to taste the artisanal ice creams they have been boasting of there. 'Cause real talk, I can say that it is #MadlyDelicious at Mad Mark’s! With its exceptional menu, not-so-expensive prices, friendly crews, plus to say the cool ambiance? Oh, gee! Would surely come back for more :) Mad Mark's Creamery and Good Eats Ground Floor, Glorietta 3, Ayala Center, Glorietta Complex, Makati City 2nd Floor, BGC Stopover Pavilion, Rizal Drive Corner, 31st Street, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City 2nd Floor, UP Town Center, Katipunan Avenue, Diliman, Quezon City 3rd Floor, Central Square, Bonifacio High Street, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City Pioneer Center Supermart, Pioneer Street, Kapitolyo, Pasig City https://www.facebook.com/madmarkshonestfood |
