Killjoy as it may seem because the bright season starts to bid its goodbye, this is life, and it has to go on, and on, and on. Since the cold weather finally arrived in the country, it also means unpacking those hubadera summer outfits back to the closet and bringing out those thick knits, long sleeves, and warm clothes again for good. Stormy days will always be the best when spent indoors and people ought to laze on dressing up during this kind of weather. However, the rain shall never be an excuse to put off style for your everyday parade. So, here are some tips about the clothes you prolly need this mizzly period: Dark tees The Philippines is a tropical country. That's why every time this rainy season kicks in, the random weather also comes at hand. The mornings can be hot while the evenings may be breezy (or vice-versa) and in order to shield from the changing temperature, wearing dark shirts is commendable. Take note that dark doesn't mean black. It can also be navy blue, wine red, and the like hued shirts. Dark colors absorb more wavelengths of light that transform heat. This then gives the body the ability to feel lesser chills. Moreover, dark tints conceal stains and hide spots. Wearing such on a rainy day is even transparent when wet. Pants A pair of pants will always be a never-ending fad. It can work on both male and female, day and night, even winter, spring, summer, and fall. I know that sounds a little funny to use here but I’m actually stating a fact. Because pants don’t only give comfort to move -- it also protects the skin from the harmful exposures of the environment. Wearing this during the freezing season helps to avoid some Marilyn Monroe moment just in case a strong wind started to blow. Also, keep in mind to use the right and tight pants because the flare and flowy ones can brush the ground. You don’t want to have hassle commutes and hassle laundry, right? Right. Cardigans Thank God for letting the world invent this open-front knitted sweater which most people call as cardigan, one can look formal yet casual while feeling cozied and soothed at the same time. A personal and forever favorite, I love cardigans because it makes every outfit beautiful -- adding it just creates magic! Matching dresses, skirts, shorts, pants, even swimsuits and bikinis with this amazing garment always turn amazing! And, it can pull all days, especially rainy days with an oomph. Jackets There are many types of jackets -- leather, varsity, bomber, and more. But, there is one thing common to all of them: to keep the person wearing it safe and warm. There is no other explanation for why jackets are a must every rainy weather. They are made for this season and the spotlight is theirs. And in that case, I suggest having the ones with a hood to protect the head. Remember, you can't be sick because health is wealth! There are waterproof jackets all over the metro as well. You might want to check your favorite stores and might want to give them a try. Pullovers Indeed, it’s hashtag sweater weather already so, what better way to vogue up would be dressing up in a sweater. Pullovers or sweaters are intended as cover-ups. I see them as a fusion of cardigans and jackets since it uses the same fabrics as the cardigans, but closed like the jackets. It’s also like a shirt which is easy to wear but has waaaaay longer sleeves. Perfect as a double garment whether on shirts, sleeveless tees, or even dresses, sweaters are indeed essential in this Elsa season. I have read somewhere that rain is a confetti popped by the heavens. So? Never let the cold sadden your mood. You must always choose to be a sun despite the storm. Double hugs and kisses for this weather, Ela 💖
