I am a very big fan of Vanessa Hudgens. Pretends to be shocked? Haha! It should have been visible with my social media accounts and previous blog posts that I really love this girl! Idolizing her from the beginning up to the present -- Gabriella Montez days to Queen of Coachella reign duration and every day in between -- I happened to adopt some of her characters’ characteristics and real-life aesthetics. My most favorite gain aside from the beauty-and-brains-plus-hearty girl who is most likely to succeed? The boho chic fashion! I will make a compilation of my bohemian looks soon, but for now, this. So… Last December 14, V’s 30th birthday, turned out to be our office Christmas party. Guess what our theme was? Coachella! Indeed, it was a day that is meant to celebrate even if we are on the different sides of the world. I did not want to disappoint my mom so, I careered my style while thinking of it as my soul sis’ day and imagining I am really attending the fest. There is no Coachella Music and Arts Festival here in the Philippines because this affair usually happens in Southern California; however, with made-up parties like this, pwede na rin =))))) Music is the first priority in Coachella Festival. Second would be fashion. While singing with lungs out and having good times with friends, the media cannot help but notice the outfits of the partygoers. Usually, Coachella attendees dress up with florals, fringes, ankle boots, sunglasses, and all things boho, hippie, and hubadera clothings. I have lots of bohemian outfits and to be honest, I got more pressured because of it. Did not want to be basic because my folks know this is my aesthetic. And like Vanessa, I wanted to stand out effortlessly. Which I think, I did naman. Lol. Though inspired by the Queen V, I tried experimenting with my own style formula. I am my own fashion peg. Since it is Coachella, I wanna own it and make it "CoachEla." I stylized up based on my feelings and comfort. Plus the motivation that I want this OOTD to be unique and trendy where only I would wear this; avoiding girls in the same dress as me, of course. My black dress with long fringes was bought at Forever 21 years ago already. It was stocked in the closet because I still did not feel like wearing it. And I know why now. Yup, that upper portion is actually a dress. I just topped it with a silver sequined skirt from a designer outlet which I can't remember anymore, basta dun sa Dept Store of The Landmark - Ayala. Then, partnered these togs with my H&M ankle-heeled boots. I made it that way in order to put some oomphs and much more of a wow factor. Accessories are from bazaars, SM Department Store - Makati, and again, F21. The skirt is way too sparkly and even if black is a classic, I decided to sew a piece of glittery-but-not-overwhelming fabric as an additional cloth to my dress. I did that to my LBD to compliment the skirt. And yes, I do alter my clothes if needed so the overall look would be coordinated. That's just me talaga -- I never stop until I think my attire is beautiful, until I feel that the OOTD represents me. And the results? Voila... This! This Coachella slash CoachEla ow-ow-tee-dee of mine is my most pak-aura-ganern outfit yet... And I am so proud! Literal CoachEla actually, 'cause really, I coached myself in all this. It took me lots of time lurking ideas, trial and error dressing up moments to recreate a passable Coachella Festival outfit. My get-up still released the bohemian, gypsy, free-spirited, fashion babe I opt to be. However, better than expected. Felt like Queen V's spirit has flown to my soul and this is the awesome result. Truly, this OOTD opened me up to something new. I can make things happen if I want it, huh? My look went beyond the zone and created confidence in me. Wearing this reminds me that I can get through things, thanks to the magic of music and love for arts -- like celebrating, partying, living my own Coachella, and portraying my own self as CoachEla!!!!! 💖
